Bodyboss Review: My Opinion Of The Workout Guide
Hey there! My name is Jessica P. and I’m a single mother with a young daughter that lives with me (I was awarded custody).
My life has been really hectic the past year or so. I found out that my husband was cheating on me with a “younger model” he had been sneaking around with for months. We had begin together for years; they had been together for months.
I don’t need to bother you all with the gruesome details, nor am I really in that place emotionally, but I will just say that it was a very tough breakup for everyone involved, and the pain was immeasurable.
Shortly afterwards, I developed a terrible habit. I would laze about all day, do the bare minimum required, and binge eat to feel better about myself. I wouldn’t know it at the time, but I was going through a sort of depressed phase.
I began to pack on a lot of pounds, and there was no end in sight. I lacked the motivation to change my ways, and lacked the energy to hit the gym or do anything requiring effort.
One day, I realized that I had to make a change. I needed to get back to who I was or I might never recover…
So I hit Google and Pinterest to figure out what the newest workout trends were. I wanted something that was shaking up the place, something to slap me in the face and guide me towards my recovering.
Bodyboss Method Review
Okay, now for real… No more of the sob story. I swear. I just wanted to help explain the sort of mindset I was in when I finally discovered the Bodyboss method, which I’m now going to share my honest thoughts on with you.
So, this is page is going to be for anyone and everyone that is wondering whether or not the Bodyboss Method guide is worth buying.
I’ll start off with the most obvious thing – the price. It is freaking expensive! I was on a budget at the time (or rather, I wasn’t about to let myself get taken advantage of again) so I was especially aware at the time, but the online PDF guide costs almost $50.
That’s a decent chunk of cash, especially if it’s going to be one of those workouts that people drop the next day.
But that might be OK, as long as it was worth the money.
But I have to say that Body Boss wasn’t. I’ll try and explain exactly why…
For starters, I wanted more than a simple PDF guide with a few images here and there of exercises. I mean, I have access to Google Images just like anyone else.
I wanted to be GUIDED! But as it turns out (I found this out later when I was venting on online workout forums) a lot of workout guides are exactly like this. What’s more, it turns out that Bodyboss is expensive when compared to many other similar programs.
So what on earth had I spent so much money on it for?! Ugh. Stupid, hasty Jessica.
Anyway, I invested in the guide and overall the information and workouts were… okay. I guess. But I was let down by the lack of overall value in the method. I thought I would get my socks blown off.
Socks = On.
I followed the workouts for about a week and a half before I just gave up. This wasn’t a simple case of me losing motivation, rather, I just found that the method was BORING and kind of hard to follow.
Again, this is my just my opinion. That said –
I don’t know if it was because the workouts weren’t anything special, or maybe I was just a little salty because it was so expensive, and I was disappointed from the get go… Either way, I found that it wasn’t for me.
My Abandoned Bodyboss Results
So yeah, I gave up after a week and a half. Call me a quitter, see if I care!
The guides really just weren’t exciting or intriguing in any way, really. I wanted to be motivated to keep pushing.
Honestly, what I like is a little personal touch from the person instructing me, which I just didn’t feel like I was getting from Bodyboss. Sorry Mr. Boss, but I was not into it.
Now I would love to tell you all that I had mind-blowing results after just a week and a half… but this isn’t some late night infomercial. My Bodyboss Results were nothing to write home about.
I did manage to meet a few like-minded women at the gym who I ended up ranting to. They told me the routine was very similar to ones they give out at the gym for free.
Thanks, Sam. If only you had told me sooner 🙁 …
Do the Bodyboss Workouts Work?
I don’t know. Maybe? I can’t really flat out say they had no merit. I just found that they weren’t anywhere near what I needed at the time. I was looking for something I could follow to the letter.
And while you probably (maybe) CAN follow Bodyboss to the letter and get good results… shouldn’t you be able to have some fun while you’re at it, too?
Also, I sort of think Bodyboss is for more intermediate people. Not for busy stay-at-home mommys. You can follow it without gym equipment at least.
That said, I found the solution that I needed. A workout more geared for busy beginners, one that was WORTH THE PRICE too. I got it at www.bikinibodyworkouts.com
The BodyBoss Alternative I use and Now Recommend
I was pretty upset after the failure of the Bodyboss workout, but I was more upset with the idea of staying unhealthy and feeling fat, so I decided to once again look for a new workout.
However, this time I was able to find a community of people that had also had negative experiences with the Bodyboss program. It was there that I was given a recommendation that ended up changing my life.
That would be the bikini body workouts, created by Jen Ferruggia.
Gosh! Things would have been much simpler if I had just found the Bikini Body Workouts from the get-go. Cheaper, more effective, more content.
The Bikini Body Guides come with a workout manual, free workout DVDs to use as instruction, a nutrition guide so you can plan out your meals, shopping lists, and more. You should honestly just go to www.bikinibodyworkouts.com and see what I’m talking about. The full program is only $29.99.
Bodyboss Method vs Jen’s Bikini Body Workouts
Here’s a table so you can see exactly what I’m talking about. Hard to argue with cold data.
|Type||Bikini Body Workouts||Bodyboss Method|
|12 Week Program (Basic)||$29.99||$49.50|
|Supplement Guide||FREE||NOT INCLUDED|
|Shopping Lists||FREE||NOT INCLUDED|
|Interactive Videos||FREE||NOT INCLUDED|
It’s pretty clear to see how and why the Bikini Body Workouts from Jen Ferruggia are a wayyyy better deal.
I’ve been following Jen’s method for a month now and I’m actually enjoying it. I learn a little more everyday, I sweat good and the food she recommends is actually delicious.
Losing weight isn’t easy, but I can’t imagine it getting any easier than this.
All that said – I’m not trying to say that the Bodyboss method workouts are completely ineffective. I know that some people can still see some pretty fantastic results with them.
All I’m going to say is that I am not one of those people. I took that in stride, adapted, and moved on.
In a sort of twisted way, the Body boss method is how I ended up with a much better workout program, so I do owe them a bit of thanks for the new body I’m rocking.
If anyone here has any comments or concerns about the Bikini Body Workouts or the Bodyboss Method, feel free to ask them in the comments section and I’ll try and address them. One thing I won’t do is send you either guide for free.
People worked hard creating these programs, so respect their effort!
If you’re going to pull the trigger and invest in one of them, I would have to recommend the Bikini Body Workouts over Bodyboss. It’s still up to you at the end of the day, though.
UPDATE: My Before and After Results With The Workout
I’ve gotten your emails people, relax! I know people wanted to know how I’ve been progressing.
These are my results:
After about six months, I lost a total of 50 pounds!
The first few weeks were the most rapid weight loss, and the craziest change of my mentality. I remember waking up full of energy, even before my alarm would go off. I would hop out of bed ready to take on the world.
I didn’t get brain fog halfway through the day. I had the energy to keep up with my energetic daughter. I felt more confident every time I looked in the mirror.
It got so easy I almost forgot I was “following a workout”. I just became a woman that works out. Fast forward 6 months later and I can say that I surpassed who I used to be.
It’s the best feeling of the world. It really is.
To anyone reading this, follow whatever workout works best for you. If it’s bodyboss, go for it. If it’s the bikini body workouts – trust me, you’ll love it.
Good luck! I hope that this Bodyboss review somehow managed to help you. It turned into something very different than usual, but I think this might actually help more people.
Both the old and the new Jessica wish you good luck!
